People who suffer from HIV or AIDS often feel alone. Try as they may, friends and family simply might not be able to understand or relate to the symptoms caused by HIV or may remove themselves from the infected person for fear of contracting the disease.
Support groups are a helpful way for people living with HIV to connect. Being able to talk to someone who is going through a similar situation can be invaluable and can help people cope. In addition, support groups allow people to talk about effective HIV treatments.
To find a support group near you, talk to your doctor. You can also use the Internet to search for an HIV support group in your community. Online HIV support groups also exist.
If you know of a good HIV support group or if you have been helped by a support group, please post a comment.
