Early Symptoms of HIV

Often, people who are infected with HIV ignore early warning signs. As treatment for HIV is more successful if the disease is caught in an early stage, it is important to know the early symptoms of HIV.

If you think you might have been exposed to HIV and experience any of the following, schedule an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible:
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Swollen lymph glands
  • Rash
  • Fatigue.
Though these symptoms can indicate a number of other illnesses, it is important to have them checked out by your doctor.

I need to tell you about my predicament. I had unprotected sex with a woman whom I met for the first time. I was feeling a bit under the weather from a recent trip, she had herpes and so did I. Anyways, a couple of days later, I had two lesions one below the belly button and another at the base of the penis.
Ten days later, I made chili with some frost-burnt beef in the fridge, left it overnight in the slowcooker and then ate it the second nite, only to get sick within a couple of hours of eating it. The part that bothers me is that I didn't have that much diarrhea (hardly any), just nausea and dizziness. It has been a few days since then and I am feeling better, though still sick. On the second day of the illness, I got checked out by a doctor who thought that the lesions were from shaving down there, though I dont't agree with him. I got tested for everything, and got a hep a first shot as well. Results in two weeks. Is it possible to get HIV infection symptoms at 11- 12 days? Doesn't food posioning resolve itself after a few days. It has been 4 days. I am starting to panic.

Needless to say, I have learnt my lesson not to fool around unprotected.
